What we do

The goal of the project is simple: to bring young people closer to tango. Argentine tango is a dance whose historical roots are based on improvisation, elegance and passion. Thanks to the union of your energy to this project, it will be possible to pass on and innovate all the elements that made Tango one of the most famous dances in the world! Everything starts from an embrace and a simple walk, from there ... this special dance is constructed and evolved.

Few rules dictate the limits of improvisation: the man leads, the woman follows. Throughout your journey, you will be guided by young professional teachers, whose mission is to pass on this wonderful discipline.

PS: those who already know and dance Tango
are also very welcome to join the project, the merger will be even more interesting and complete!

History of the Project

Vertical Divider
The project was born one summer evening, after a long milonga that ended at dawn, from an idea by Giovanni Eredia and Giovanni Filocamo. From the embryonic concept, the cardinal elements of the project immediately began to take shape:

teaching from the basics, the pleasure of discovery, connecting people in a real network of ideas; not an informatic, evanescent one but real and tangible.

After a long phase of planning, the experimentation of the project was realized by Giovanni Eredia in 2013-2014 at the ex-Ideal, a well-known cultural meeting point in Florence, Italy. From the start, the goal was set to find the most effective methods to convey and transmit the cultural and artistic principles of the Argentine Tango, connecting them with the expectations and lifestyle of the youngest.

Tango was born in Argentina, where it has always been practiced by many boys and girls at an early age. Those have learned this dance in a natural, almost inevitable way, as an integral part of their own culture. Nonetheless, Tango has evolved to something more profound than just a dancing ritual: an expression of socialization and sharing with other people of every culture, religion, and nationality, creating at the same time a network of new acquaintances and friendships that are linked by a common passion, to cultivate and spread. Even so, driving this kind of cultural heritage among under-30s has often been much harder in other countries, hence the idea and purpose of this project:

Break down the cultural barriers that preclude or discourage young people from entering an extraordinary world, which can give them so much.

From the start, the project has focused to convey values of respect and understanding, in order to define for each neophyte an engaging and exciting path, in which the initial didactic approach and the subsequent deepening of understanding transform a fascinating dance in an unique and autonomously perceived artistic condition. The values that the project makes its own are the desire to entertain, the commitment in individual and self-understanding, and mutual support. We want to transmit the cultural bases of the Argentine Tango to young people in a multicultural perspective, one which opens up to the vision of new possibilities. Understanding the universal language of steps and music is the key for sharing our experience with other people from all over the world, practicing a rigorous and enjoyable body discipline. With yours and our passion, this community will facilitate the aggregation among young people for the development and articulation of welcoming and inclusive social systems: reducing alienation and youthful isolation, encouraging a direct and friendly relationships.
